Coping with Cancer Pain

Whether from the cancer itself or the treatments fighting the cancer, pain can be a scary part of the cancer experience. But cancer doesn’t have to mean pain. Every patient deserves a health care team committed to relieving the pain that may come, and one who also makes sure that any side effects from attempts at pain control are acceptable. So, if you don’t already have someone like that on your team, ask for a referral to a pain specialist. Improved pain control can lead to improved survival, so the more in check you and your doctor can keep your pain, the better your overall outlook.
